Men Ought Always to Pray
Prayer isn’t the last resort, it is the only resort. We pray not as a choice but because we know that men ought always to pray. The enemy fights many believers in this regard because he understands the power of a praying man or woman. As we journey with God, we must continue to align with Him through prayer. God’s children are people of prayer.
In Genesis 18:20-32, God and Abraham discuss the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah, and Abraham, in conversation with God, is able to intercede and negotiate on behalf of the city. In Esther 4:16 (NIV), Esther declares:
“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
In Exodus 32:11 (NKJV), Moses pleads with God, saying:
“... ‘Lord, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?’”
I ask you today, what should you be praying about instead of complaining about? You have authority in prayer to participate in God’s heavenly council. Pray, and even when you do not yet see the answer, keep praying. Keep interceding. We are in perilous times, and God needs men and women who will not neglect their posture of prayer.
Nations can be saved through prayer. Your life can be changed through prayer. Your family can be rescued through prayer. Your children can be delivered through prayer. Prayer changes things and it also changes you! It allows you to see the counsel of God above your own desires. Prayer is so vital that even our Lord Jesus prayed time and time again.
Let us remain steadfast in prayer!
PRAYER FOCUS
As we begin this new journey of growth in God, here are a few scriptures we would love for us to meditate on this month:
PRAYER FOCUS 1
Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you in the area of prayer that you will not faint in your commitment to prayer, but rise up as one who intercedes for the will of God to be revealed.Isaiah 43:19: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
PRAYER FOCUS 2
Pray that, like Esther, you will rise up to accept the call of God upon your life. Ask that you may partner with God through prayer and fasting, walking in divine boldness. You have been called for such a time as this.
PRAYER FOCUS 3
Pray for unsaved loved ones, that God would rescue them. “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.” Ephesians 1:18
